Your Corporate Demonstration, Trade Show, or Other Off-site.

Sensory Computer Systems frequently receives client inquires on how to best setup a temporary quick-n-easy SIMS 2000 system for internal Corporate Demonstrations, Trade Shows, or Other Off-site purpose.

Objective: Demonstrate your Sensory/Market Research/Quality testing and methodology currently being utilized within your organization, CLTs, HUTs, POSs, etc. Setup at the corporate demonstration for potentially hundreds of participants.

PC Equipment: A small mini network of 5 or 6 PCs. Sensory Computer Systems already has a few clients who are using SIMS 2000 on a daily basis in a similar fashion. Mobility is the usual reason for this setup which is not on the public internet, and is not on the corporate network. Mobility is usually for client’s who are doing frequent off-site studies CLTs, POSs, store intercepts, etc.

One PC: One of the PCs need to be the SQL data host for the SIMS 2000 database. Almost any PC can serve this host purpose; Windows XP SP2+ PC, Laptop PC, or desktop PC. This PC can also serve as a SIMS 2000 panelist or technician PC. This PC can also be used by itself as a stand-alone single PC to take to your corporate demonstration if you later decide that additional PCs are not necessary.

Every other PC: For the other 4 or 5 PCs, grab any $50 network router, install SIMS 2000 on each PC, point each non-host PC to the host PC via ODBC, start your desired SIMS 2000 test, and you’re all set.

$50 Network Router: Generally better to go for a hard-wired router for 100% reliability and speed, plug in a couple of Cat5 network cables, and you’re all set. A wireless router is of course another available option.

Ballot Setup in SIMS 2000: Your Sensory technician can quickly create the desired Ballot, or use the ballot Transfer functionality available to copy one from your other SIMS 2000 systems. Create a simple Experimental Design for a couple thousand panelists, use all Anonymous panelists, start/execute the Test.

Test-Your-Test: Bench test the mini network of 5 or 6 PCs at your office location prior to heading to your corporate demonstration site.
