A. Include a RANKING attribute in your questionnaire when you want panelist preferences on three or more samples. If you are testing only two samples, it is usually easier to ask a Paired Comparison question instead of a Ranking attribute.

A Ranking attribute looks like this while you are designing the questionnaire:

There are limited options when creating a RANKING attribute:

  • Associated Instruction Text with font and color
  • Data Export Label

Each Ranking attribute is always Seen With Last Sample Only. Logically, you would always have to evaluate each of the samples prior to ranking them against each other.

When the question appears in a real SIMS 2000 test, the captions Sample 1, Sample 2, Sample 3 are replaced with the actual blinding codes seen by the panelist. The number of blinding codes to appear will match the number of samples presented in each replication.

Here is the same Ranking attribute from above as seen in a test with four samples. The panelist has already clicked each of the buttons next to each blinding code to record her preferences.
